"Already today, 1.4 million .a of young forests have been planted in Russia [as part of the federal project "Forest Conservation"]. We plan to continue this work until 2030 and are now finalising a new federal project for 2025-2030. And it is very valuable that the "Save the Forest" and "Garden of Memory" campaigns have already become truly popular. The results of this year showed the active participation of every region of Russia without exception," - said Counsellors.
In 2023, the leading position among the participants of the action "Garden of Memory" showed the Saratov region, in the territory of the region were planted 6.8 million trees, the second and third place respectively took the Tver region (2.6 million) and the Republic of Tatarstan (1.2 million). The Tyumen Region (5 million trees), Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Yugra (4.5 million), and Kemerovo Region (2.1 million) were also among the leaders of the "Save the Forest" campaign. Special nominations were given to the Kursk Region, where residents traditionally plant forests in the form of geoglyphs, and the Donetsk People's Republic, whose forest fund was replenished with more than 1 million trees this year.

In total, over 100 million trees were planted during this year's actions with the participation of activists from all regions of Russia. A variety of events in support of the forest ecosystem and reforestation actions were held across the country, and the season culminated with a light flash mob, added O. Stepchenko, General Director of the Garden of Memory and Chairwoman of the Forest Volunteers movement.
The Garden of Memory international action was first held in 2020. Its goal is to immortalise the memory of 27 million people who died during the Great Patriotic War. The action is organised by the Garden of Memory, the All-Russian Public Movement "Victory Volunteers" and the Victory Warlords Memorial Fund with the support of the Russian Ministry of Education, the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, as part of the national project "Ecology".
For the first time, the All-Russian campaign "Save the Forest" was held in 2019. Every year, up to 1.5 million participants join the action, who have planted more than 222 million trees over the four years of the project. The environmental initiative has become rightfully considered one of the largest in Russia. The action is held within the framework of the national project "Ecology". It is organised by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry of Russia, the Federal Forestry Agency, the All-Russian public movement Forest Volunteers with the support of the Ecosystem movement and the All-Russian Movement of Children and Youth "Movement of the First".
